EGR Valve Position Sensor: Description and Operation

- The EGR Function Sensor is incorporated into the EGR valve assembly. It is a variable resistor that detects EGR control valve lift.
- The powertrain control module engine uses this information to optimize EGR system operation through its control of the EGR vent and vacuum side solenoid valves. The signal also influences electronic spark timing control.
