Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection


THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
Variable Resistor / Inspection






1. Connect the Special Service Tools (SSTs), (Engine Signal Monitor and Adapter Harness) to the Powertrain Control Module Engine (PCME) as shown.
2. Set the SST (Engine Signal Monitor) to terminal 2F.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.









4. Rotate the throttle link by hand and verify that the voltage is within specifications.
5. If not as specified, adjust the throttle position sensor.

Idle Switch / Inspection
1. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector from the throttle position sensor.






2. Connect an ohmmeter between C and D terminals.


Measure Continuity With Specified Feeler Gauge Installed:





3. Check for continuity between C and D with a feeler gauge inserted between the throttle stop screw and throttle valve lever.









4. If not within specification, loosen the screws and rotate the throttle position sensor to adjust.
5. Tighten the screws and seal them with white paint.
6. After checking and adjusting the sensor, connect the throttle position sensor connector.
