Component

CAUTION
- Do not drop or subject the sensor to sharp shock.
- Do not put or allow anything in the sensor.

1. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow Sensor connector.
2. Remove the Mass Air Flow Sensor.

Mass Air Flow Sensor:





3. Check for damage of the sensor.
4. Reconnect the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
5. Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector.

Air Flow Meter:





Special Service Tool (Breakout Box):





6. Connect the Special Service Tool (Breakout Box) to the PCM.

Mass Air Flow Sensor Connector:





7. Check the voltage at terminal 14 (50 for manual transmission) with a voltmeter.

- Ignition Switch ON: 0 volts
- Hot Idle: 0.5 - 0.7 volts
- Driving 48 kmh/h (30mph): 1.1 - 1.6 volts
- Driving 88 kmh/h (55mph): 1.6 - 2.3 volts

8. If not as specified, replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor.

Tightening torque: 10 Nm (89 in.lb)
