Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor provides cylinder identification information to the Powertrain Control Module for ignition coil and fuel injector synchronization.

OPERATION
The CMP sensor is a single Hall effect magnetic switch, which is activated by a single vane driven by the camshaft.
