Pressure Feedback Exhaust Sensor: Description and Operation
EGR Function Control System:
DESCRIPTION
The Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (DPFE) system is a subsonic closed loop EGR system that controls Exhaust Gas Recirculation by monitoring the exhaust pressure drop across a remotely located sharp-edged orifice, and by monitoring exhaust system back pressure. The system uses a pressure transducer/sensor to send a returning analog voltage signal to the PCM. The PCM controls the varying pressure by modulating the vacuum output of the EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid.
Differential Pressure Feedback Electronic (DPFE) EGR Sensor:
OPERATION
The DPFE sensor converts a varying exhaust gas pressure signal into a proportional analog signal which is digitized by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM uses the signal receives from the DPFE sensor to optimize the EGR flow.
NOTE: Manual transmission only.
