Compressor Clutch Relay: Testing and Inspection

NOTE:
The Wide Open Throttle (WOT) A/C Cutout Relay is a normally closed type relay.
When the relay is energized current flow to the A/C compressor clutch is interrupted.

View: Main Fuse/Relay Box (Power Distribution Box):

WITHOUT VOLTAGE APPLIED
- Remove the WOT A/C Cutout Relay from its connector in the Main Fuse/Relay Box (Power Distribution Box).

WOT A/C Cutout Relay:

- Check for continuity across relay terminals DG/O and B/Y.

- If continuity exists, relay is OK.
- If no continuity exists, replace relay.

WITH VOLTAGE APPLIED
- Apply battery voltage across relay terminals R and P/Y.
- Re-check for continuity across terminals DG/O and B/Y.

- If continuity still exists, replace relay.
- If no continuity exists, relay is OK.
