Engine Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the speed control actuator (if equipped).
3. Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module connector.
4. Remove the two nuts and remove the powertrain control module.

INSTALLATION
1. Reverse the removal procedure to install.

NOTE: The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) stores information about vehicle operating conditions in Keep Alive Memory (KAM) and uses this information to compensate for component tolerances.
- KAM is cleared when the battery power supply is disconnected from the PCM.
- The vehicle must be driven for at least ten miles to allow the PCM to relearn the values for optimum performance.
- During the ten mile relearn drive, the vehicle may exhibit some driveability symptoms. These should be eliminated when the KAM has relearned the operating values.
