Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The Camshaft Position Sensor provides cylinder identification and camshaft position information to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM uses the signal for fuel injector synchronization with the engine firing order.

OPERATION
The Camshaft Position Sensor is a single Hall effect magnetic switch, which is activated by a single vane driven by the camshaft.
