Removal/Installation
Fig. 1 Engine External Components:
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove starter and transmission.
4. Drain engine oil and coolant.
5. Lower vehicle, then remove engine undercover, Fig. 1.
6. Remove battery hold-down clamp, and then battery.
7. Remove fresh-air duct, then purge control solenoid valve.
8. Remove cooling fan and radiator cowl.
9. Remove drive belts, then upper and lower radiator hoses.
10. On models with automatic transmission, remove oil cooler hose from radiator.
11. Remove radiator.
12. Remove accelerator cable, then the air cleaner.
13. Remove the resonance chamber assembly, then the (PRC) solenoid valve.
14. Remove vacuum hose to vacuum actuator.
15. Remove canister hose and brake vacuum hose.
16. Remove heater hoses and fuel hoses.
17. Remove emission harness connectors and engine ground wire.
18. Remove shroud upper panel and A/C pipe bracket.
19. Remove A/C compressor leaving hoses connected and position aside.
20. Remove power steering oil pump pulley, then power steering oil pump leaving hoses connected and position aside.
21. Remove lower section of the grille, then the radiator grille.
22. Remove shroud upper plate and condenser fan.
23. Remove left and right engine mount nuts.
24. Using a suitable lifting device, remove engine from vehicle.
25. Reverse procedure to install.
