Distributor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Remove high tension leads from distributor cap.
2. Remove distributor cap.
3. Disconnect wiring harness.
4. Turn crankshaft to #1 cylinder TDC and rotor position.
5. Remove mounting bolt and lift off distributor. Do not turn engine while distributor is removed.

INSTALLATION

Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:

1. Coat O-ring with engine oil and coupling shaft with grease.
2. Ensure that #1 cylinder is at TDC.
3. Install distributor with rotor pointing in same direction as it was during removal.
4. After installation, adjust ignition timing (see ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES).
5. Tighten mounting bolt:

TORQUE: 14 - 19 ftlb (19 - 25 Nm)
