Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Detect intake air temperature and send signal to PCME. Input used in PCME calculations for:
^ Fuel injection quantity
^ Pressure regulator control

LOCATION
Intake system dynamic chamber.

OPERATION
Sensor is a thermistor whose resistance varies with temperature. Normal sensor resistance measurements are:

K OHMS AIR TEMP.
29.7 - 36.3 25°C / 77°F
10.5 - 12.9 50°C / 122°F
3.3 - 3.7 85°C / 185°F

NOTE: Computerized control system on this vehicle uses a second intake air thermosensor located in the mass air flow sensor.
