PURPOSE
To facilitate starting the engine when the spark plugs become fouled due to "engine flooding" in cold ambient temperatures.

OPERATION
Fuel injection is cut if the throttle valve is held wide open during cranking and engine coolant temperature is 0°C (32°F) or below. This allows the spark plugs to dry and purges excess fuel from the cylinders.
