Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

IDLE SWITCH

NOTE: Throttle adjusting screw is factory set and must not be adjusted. Any adjustment will negatively affect engine performance.

1. With ignition OFF, unplug sensor connector and place throttle valve in closed position.

2. Loosen sensor mount screws. Rotate sensor to adjust continuity between terminals C and D.

View: Checking Throttle Position Sensor Idle Switch:

3. Insert 0.15 mm (0.006 in) feeler gauge between throttle stopper screw and throttle valve lever. Meter should show continuity.
4. Insert 0.50 mm (0.020 in) feeler gauge between throttle stopper screw and throttle valve lever. Meter should show NO continuity.
5. Tighten screws to 1.6 - 2.3 Nm (14 - 20 in.lb.)

VARIABLE RESISTOR

SST-49 G018 903 Adapter Harness, SST-49 9200 162A Eng. Signal Monitor, SST-49 G018 904 Sheet Overlay:

1. Remove powertrain control module engine (PCME) and connect special service tools (SST)s to the PCME connector.

Verify Throttle Is Closed:

2. Verify that throttle is closed.
3. Loosen mount screws.
4. Turn ignition ON and measure voltage at PCME terminal 2F.

- Voltage should be 0.1 - 1.1 Volts with throttle closed.
- Voltage should be 2.8 - 4.5 Volts with throttle wide open.

5. Verify that voltage increase is proportional to throttle valve opening angle.
6. Tighten screws to 1.6 - 2.3 Nm (14 - 20 in.lb.)
7. If not as specified after adjustment, replace sensor.
