Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Airflow Sensor Testing:

CAUTION: Do not drop or subject the sensor to sharp shocks. Do not put any objects into the sensor.

VISUAL INSPECTION

1. Unplug connector and remove sensor.
2. Check for cracks or other damage. Replace sensor if needed.

VOLTAGE INSPECTION

1. Connect Mazda SST, or aftermarket equivalent, to sensor as shown.
2. Check voltage at PCME terminals 2O and 2F.
3. With ignition ON, voltage at both terminals should be below 1.0V.
4. With engine idling, voltage at terminal 20 should be 1.0 - 2.0V. At terminal 2F, it should be below 1.0V.
5. If not as specified, replace sensor.
