Crankshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Crankshaft Position Sensor Testing:






WARNING: Disconnect fuel injection connector. When checking sensor, do not connect igniter connector.

1. Remove sensor (it may be necessary to remove coil assembly to obtain clearance).
2. Connect test equipment as shown.
3. Unplug fuel injector connector.
4. Turn ignition ON. Set tester to read voltage at PCME terminals 2E (SGT signal) and 2G (SGC signal).
5. Rotate distributor drive by hand and measure output voltage. At terminal 2E, output should be approximately 5V with 4 pulses per revolution. At terminal 2G, output should be approximately 5V with 2 pulses per revolution.
6. After inspection, install sensor and set timing to 10° ± 1° BTDC.
7. Tighten lock bolt to 14 - 18 ft lb (19 - 25 Nm).
