Ignition Coil Pack: Service and Repair
View: Coil Pack:
REMOVAL:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
NOTE: Because Keep Alive Memory is erased when the battery is disconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Coil Pack.

3. Remove the High-Tension Leads by squeezing the locking tabs to release the coil boot retainers.
4. If vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, remove the air conditioning tube to plenum bolt and move the tube enough to gain access to the upper Coil Pack bolts.
5. Remove the Coil Pack mounting screws and remove the Coil Pack from the mounting bracket.
INSTALLATION:
1. Install the Coil Pack on the mounting bracket and torque the coil pack mounting screws to: 5-7 Nm (44-62 in.lb.).
2. If vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, reposition the air conditioning tube and replace the bolt.
3. Apply silicone dielectric compound to the High-Tension Lead connectors.
4. Connect the High-Tension Leads and electrical connector to the Coil Pack.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
