Charging System: Service Precautions

Fuel supply lines on multi-port fuel injected engines will remain pressurized for some period of time after engine is shutoff. This residual pressure must be relieved before servicing fuel system components.

Fuel Rail Method
1. Using Electronic Fuel Injection Pressure Gauge tool No. 49 UN01 010, or equivalent, to the pressure measuring port on the engine fuel rail.
2. Direct drain hose to a suitable container, then depress the pressure relief button.

Alternate Method
1. Disconnect inertia switch, located under instrument panel to the right of transmission hump.
2. Crank engine for 15-20 seconds to relieve pressure.
3. Connect inertia switch.
