Park/Neutral Switch (ATX)

Inhibitor Switch:

PURPOSE
Signals the PCME as to transmission operating range and prevents starting the vehicle except in "P" or "N" positions. The PCME uses the signal in its calculations for fuel injection quantity, idle speed control, purge control, A/C cut-off, ignition timing control, and fuel pressure regulator control.

LOCATION
Top of transaxle.

OPERATION
This is a mechanical switch that moves through its range when the gear shift selector is moved.
