Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Testing and Inspection




System Operation
1. Connect the Special Service Tools (SST)s, (Engine Signal Monitor and Adaptor Harness) to the engine control module (ECM) as shown.
2. Start the engine.
3. While the engine is still cold, accelerate the engine and verify that ECM terminal 3-O, 3-P voltage are B+.
4. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature and let it idle.
5. Accelerate the engine and verify that Engine Signal Monitor's green and red lights flash at ECM terminal 3-O, 3-P.
6. Disconnect the EGR solenoid valve (Vacuum side) connector.
7. Apply B+ and a ground to the solenoid valve as shown.
8. Verify that the engine runs roughly or stalls at idle.
