Audio Anti-Theft System Deactivation

The audio system's anti-theft feature renders the system inoperable after power to the audio unit has been interrupted. Deactivating the anti-theft function prior to performing repairs will ensure restoration of audio system operation in case of the vehicle battery being disconnected or a loss of power to the audio unit during repairs. Always have the ignition in the ACC position when disconnecting audio unit connectors. The following procedures may also be used to restore audio system functions if the anti-theft system has been activated. If the personal code is not successfully entered in three attempts, the anti-theft disabling feature will activate and the audio unit will then be completely inoperable. Contact the audio unit manufacturer if this occurs.
1. Obtain personal code from vehicle owner.
2. Turn ignition switch to ACC position, then turn off audio unit.
3. Simultaneously press SCAN and AUTO-M buttons for 1.5 seconds until bars appear on display.
4. With bars displayed, enter owner-selected code number using channel preset buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4. Previous steps must be completed within ten seconds or the setting procedure will be canceled. If procedure has been canceled, repeat procedure beginning at step 1.
5. With code number displayed, press and hold the SCAN and AUTO-M buttons for 1.5 seconds until a beep is heard. The code will be displayed for 5 seconds and then disappear to indicate audio unit is operative.
6. On all models, if "ERR" (error) appears on display, return to first step.
