PREINSPECTION






Wheel Bearing Play

1. Remove the wheel and tire.
2. Remove the brake caliper assembly.
3. Position a dial indicator against the wheel hub. Push and pull the wheel hub by hand in the axial direction and measure the wheel bearing play.
4. If the bearing play exceeds specification, check and adjust the locknut torque or replace the hub bearing assembly if necessary.

Maximum wheel bearing play: 0.05 mm (0.002 in)

ON VEHICLE SERVICE

Wheel Hub Bolt Replacement






1. Remove the wheel hub bolt by using the SSTs.






2. As shown in the figure, install the wheel hub bolt into the wheel hub and set a washer and wheel hub nut in the wheel hub bolt.
3. Tighten the wheel hub nut while holding the wheel hub by using the brass bar.

REMOVAL






Locknut
1. knock the crimped portion of the locknut outward by using a small chisel and a hammer.
2. Lock the hub by applying the brakes.
3. Remove the locknut.

DISASSEMBLY

Caution: The wheel hub and bearing are one assembly and do not need to be disassembled except for bearing replacement.






Disassembly/Inspection/Assembly
1. Disassemble in the order shown in the figure, referring to Disassembly Note.
2. Inspect all parts and repair or replace as necessary.
3. Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly, referring to Assembly Note.
4. Oil seal
Assembly Note:
(a) Apply grease to new oil seal lip. Install new oil seal with SST 49V001795 and 49F026103.

5. Rear wheel hub assembly
Disassembly/Assembly Note:
(a) Press out the rear wheel hub assembly with the SST 49G033102, 49G030727 and 49F026103.
6. Retaining ring
7. Wheel bearing
Disassembly Note:
(a) Press out the wheel bearing by using SST 49G030727, 49F027005 and 49F026103.
Assembly Note:
(a) Press the new wheel bearing into the knuckle by using the SST. 49G030797, 49F027007 and 49F027009.
8. Dust cover
Disassembly Note:
(a) The dust cover does not nee to be removed unless you are replacing it.
(b) Mark the dust cover and knuckle for proper reassembly.
(c) Remove the dust cover with a chisel.
Assembly Note:
(a) Mark the new dust cover the same as the one that was removed.
(b) Align the marks of the new dust cover and the knuckle.
(c) Install the new dust cover by using the SST. 49G033107 and 49F027009.

Disassembly Note:
(a) The hub bolts do not need to be removed unless you are replacing them. Press out hub bolts.
Assembly Note:
(a) Press in new hub bolts.
ABS Sensor Rotor

Note: The ABS sensor rotor does not have to be removed unless you are replacing it.






- Remove the ABS sensor rotor with a chisel.

Hub Bolt

Note: The wheel hub and bearing are one assembly and do not need to be disassembled.






- Remove the hub bolts with a press.

INSTALLATION






Hub Bolt Assembly






- Press in new hub bolts.

ABS Sensor Rotor






1. Install a new rear ABS sensor rotor on to the wheel hub.
2. Using a steel plate and the SST, press the ABS sensor rotor until it is flush with the wheel hub.

Note: The ABS sensor rotor can be installed in either direction.

Lock Nut
- Install a new locknut and stake it.

Tightening torque: 177-235 Nm (18.0 - 24.0 kgf-m, 131-173 ft. lb)

- After installation, check the rear wheel alignment.
