Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Inspection1. Remove the distributor.
2. Disconnect the fuel injector connector.
3. Connect the distributor 6-pin connector.
4. Connect the SSTs to the PCM.
Warning:
^ Turning the ignition switch on with the fuel injector connector still connected will actuate the fuel injector.
^ Turning the ignition switch on with the distributor 3-pin connector still connected will generate sparks, which can cause electrical shock. Disconnect the connector and avoid it from grounding to the vehicle body.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
6. Measure the voltage at PCM terminals 4F and 4G.
7. Rotate the distributor drive by hand and check the output signal.
Specifications
8. If not as specified, inspect the wiring harness and connector between the distributor and the PCM terminals.
9. If there is correct terminal voltage and harness continuity, replace the distributor.
