Ignition Control Module: Testing and Inspection
Inspection Preparation
NOTE: Before this inspection, check the specific gravity of the battery, and verify that the battery is fully charged.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the ignition control module connection.
3. Connect the SSTs (Special Service Tool) (Adaptor Harness and Igniter Checker).
4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
NOTE:
Switch 1 may be in either position.
Trailing Side Inspection
1. Insert the voltmeter probe into the brown (Front rotor trailing) or gray (Rear rotor trailing) lead of the SST (Adapter Harness) and verify that the voltage is as specified.
Voltage: Battery positive voltage
2. Press switch 2 to ON and verify that the voltmeter needle fluctuates.
3. Replace the ignition control module if necessary.
Leading Side Inspection
1. Insert the voltmeter probe into the black lead of the SST (Adapter Harness) and verify that the voltage is as specified.
Voltage: Battery positive voltage
2. Press switch 2 to ON and verify that the voltmeter needle fluctuates.
3. Replace the ignition control module if necessary.
