Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Testing and Inspection

INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
^ If the intake air temperature sensor or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P0112, P0113 or P1112 is output.
^ If the intake air temperature sensor circuit fails, no particular driveability symptom will be noticed.

INSPECTION
1. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor connector.
2. Check for damaged or pushed out pin(s), corrosion, and loose wires.
3. Reconnect the sensor connector.
4. Connect the Special Service Tool SST New Generation Star (NGS) tester to the data link connector. Turn the ignition switch ON.
5. Access AT PID and record value.

NOTE: Voltage values were calculated for VREF = 5.0 volts. These values may vary 15 percent due to sensor and VREF variations.

Heating Sensor:

6. If IAT PID is out of specification, place the sensor in water with a thermometer and heat the water gradually.
7. Measure the resistance of the sensor.

IAT Location:

REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor connector.
2. Remove the intake air temperature sensor.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.
