DESCRIPTION

A buzzing or raffling noise may be heard coming from the exhaust system during normal driving conditions or at idle. This may be caused by a loose heat shield attachment to the catalytic converter catalytic pipes, muffler pipes and/or muffler.

Customers complaining of this concern should have their vehicle repaired according to the following procedure.

Note
^ Do not replace the catalytic converter or muffler to eliminate this noise.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer complaint





2. Install worm clamps to the catalytic converter, or muffler as shown.





3. Align and tighten the clamps to secure the heat shield/shields in place.

Tightening torque
6.8 Nm (60 lb-in)

4. Trim the excess "ear" of the clamp to approximately 1" (2.54 cm).

5. Verify repair.
