Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR^ If the throttle position sensor or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P0121, P0122, P0123, P1120, P1121, P1124 or P1125 is output.
^ If the throttle position sensor circuit fails, rough idle, poor acceleration or shift shock (AT) may occur.
INSPECTION
SST NGS Connected To DLC-2:
1. Connect the Special Service Tool SST New Generation Star (NGS) tester to the data link connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Select PID/DATA monitor and Record function on NGS. Select TPS to monitor.
Throttle Angle To Voltage Chart:
4. Rotate the throttle linkage by hand and verify that the voltage is within specification. Verify that the voltage changes smoothly.
Throttle Angle To PID Voltage Table:
5. If not as specified, replace the throttle position sensor.
NOTE: The throttle position sensor is not adjustable.
