With Manual Transaxle

Using the Special Service Tool (Engine signal monitor)
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.

Special Service Tool (Engine Signal Monitor):

2. Connect the SST to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
3. Measure the voltage at PCM terminals 3C and 3D.

Heated Oxygen Sensor Specifications:

4. If not as specified, inspect the following.
- Fuel system
- On-board diagnostic system
- Intake-air system
5. If all the systems are OK, replace the heated oxygen sensor.

Using the SST (NGS)

Special Service Tool New Generation Star Tester Connected to Data Link Connector 2:

1. Connect the SST to the data link connector 2.

NGS Display:

2. Select the "PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD" function of the New Generation Star (NGS) tester.
3. Select "FHO2S, RHO2S" on the NGS display. The NGS measures and shows the voltage.

Heated Oxygen Sensor Specifications:

4. If not as specified, inspect the following.
- Fuel system
- On-board diagnostic system
- Intake-air system
5. If all the systems are OK, replace the heated oxygen sensor.

Heater Testing

Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Connector:

Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Connector:

1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
2. Measure the resistance between heated oxygen sensor heater (FRONT B-C, REAR C-D terminals) by using an ohmmeter.

Specification: Approx. 6 Ohms @ 20°C (68°F)

3. If not as specified, replace the heated oxygen sensor.
