WARNING: Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "Fuel Pressure Release Procedure".

1. Install the fuel pressure gauge.
2. Measure the fuel pressure under the following conditions.

3. If the fuel pressure is not within the specification, carry out either Inspection 1 or Inspection 2 as required.

INSPECTION 1
1. Check Powertrain Control Module (PCM) terminal voltage.
A) Engine coolant temperature signal
B) Intake air temperature signal
C) Throttle valve open signal
D) PRC solenoid valve signal

If all checks OK, test:
A) Pressure regulator
B) PRC solenoid valve
C) Wiring between PRC solenoid valve and PCM terminal 19 (Open circuit)
D) Wiring between Main relay and PRC solenoid valve (Open circuit)

INSPECTION 2
1. Check PCM terminal voltage.
A) Engine coolant temperature signal
B) Intake air temperature signal
C) PRC solenoid valve signal

2. If the voltages are OK, check:
A) Loose or damaged vacuum hose between the pressure regulator, PRC solenoid valve, and intake manifold.
B) PRC solenoid valve.
C) Wiring between PRC solenoid valve and PCM terminal 19 (short circuit).
