With Manual Transaxle
Distributor Removal:
Inspection
1. Remove the distributor.
2. Disconnect the fuel injector connector.
3. Connect the distributor 6-pin connector.
WARNING:
- Turning the ignition switch to ON with the fuel injector connector still connected will actuate the fuel injector.
- Turning the ignition switch to ON with the distributor 3-pin connector still connected will generate sparks, which can cause electrical shock. Disconnect the connector and avoid it from grounding to the vehicle body.
Special Service Tool (Engine Signal Monitor):
4. Connect the Special Service Tool (SST) to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Triggering The Camshaft Position Sensor:
6. Rotate the distributor drive by hand and check the output signal.
7. Measure the voltage at PCM terminals 4F and 4G.
Camshaft Position Sensor Specifications:
8. If not as specified, inspect the wiring harness and connector between the distributor and the PCM terminal.
9. If there is correct terminal voltage and harness continuity, replace the distributor.
