With Automatic Transaxle
Air ValveNOTE: This inspection must be done with the engine cold. (Engine coolant temperature below 20°C (68°F).
1. Start the engine.
2. Verify that the idle speed decreases gradually as the engine warms up.
3. If the engine speed does not decrease, inspect the idle air control valve and air valve.
Idle Air Control Valve
1. Start the engine and run it at idle.
2. Disconnect the IAC valve connector and verify that the engine speed changes.
3. If engine speed does not change, do as follows.
- Check IAC valve.
- Perform IAC valve Powertrain Control Module (PCM) terminal voltage test.
- Check IAC valve air passage.
4. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature and run it at idle.
5. Turn the electrical loads ON and verify that the engine speed is within the specification.
NOTE: Excludes temporary idle speed drop just after the electrical loads are turned ON.
6. If not as specified, check the related switches and wiring harnesses.
