Flow Chart No.2 - Symptom - Erratic operation of GEM functions.

Step 1
Preliminary checks.




1. Check engine compartment max fuses A and B.
2. Check connections for clean, tight fit.
3. Check for loose or damaged wires.




4. Are components and wiring OK?

Step 2
On-demand self test.
1. Connect NGS Tester to data link connector (DLC).
2. Select "Diagnostic Test Mode" and "On-Demand Self Test." Retrieve continuous DTCs with ignition switch ON. Note any DTCs.
3. Press Cancel. Select "Retrieve/Clear Continuous DTCs." Perform on-demand self test and note any DTCs.




4. Is self test and continuous DTC B1342 present?

Step 3
Check battery ground.




1. Remove GEM 26-pin and 18-pin connectors.
2. Check for loose or backed-out terminals.
3. Check for continuity between pins 14 and 26 at 26-pin connector or pin 18 at 18-pin connector and a known - ground.




4. Is continuity present?

Step 4
Check for open power circuit.
1. Check for open power circuit W/Y between 18-pin connector, pin 5 (W/Y) or pin 11 (W/Y) and instrument panel fuse #25.




2. Does circuit check OK?
