DESCRIPTION
When inspecting the fuel control system with an NGS tester, the PID information from the NGS tester may be different from the one mentioned in the Workshop Manual due to mis-programming of PCMs. The PCM will be modified at the beginning of the 1998 model year.
NOTE:
Service manager should place a copy of the bulletin inside the 1997 MPV Workshop Manual and with the NGS tester.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Connect the NGS tester to the data link connector 2.
2. After setting up the NGS tester for the MPV, select GENERIC OBDII FUNCTIONS" and press the TRIGGER.
3. Press Number 8 under CONT to continue to GENERIC OBDII FUNCTIONS.
4. Select "PID/DATA MONITOR" and press the TRIGGER.
5. Press Number 4 under CLEAR to clear previously selected PID's.
6. Turn the menu dial clockwise or counter clockwise to highlight FUEL SYS1 and select by pushing the TRIGGER.
7. Turn the menu dial clockwise or counter-clockwise to highlight FUEL SYS2 and selected by pushing the TRIGGER.
8. Press Number 6 under START to view PIS's.
9. Verify that FUEL SYST1 indicated Current Feedback Status and FUEL SYS2 indicates "-NA-". If FUEL SYS1 indicated "OP DRV and FUEL SYS2 does not indicates "-NA-", use data from FUEL SYS2 since it is correct.
