N-D Accumulator
OUTLINE
The N-D accumulator moderates the rapid increase in hydraulic pressure during forward clutch engagement. This reduces the shift shock generated when D range is selected from neutral position.
OPERATION
In Neutral position, the spring force and the accumulator control pressure (40) are constantly being applied to the left side of the piston, pushing it to the right side. This also occurs in park position and R range.
When D range is selected from neutral position, the line pressure (1) created by the manual valve, is applied to the piston. Under this condition line pressure (1) overcomes the combination of the spring force and the accumulator control pressure (40), moving the piston to the left side. This movement of the piston moderates the rapid increase in the line pressure (1) which is applied to the forward clutch. Furthermore, the accumulator control pressure (40) fluctuates according to the throttle valve opening angle, In the same way, the line pressure (1) which is applied to the forward clutch also fluctuates in response to the throttle valve opening angle.
