Front Cross-Member: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the splash shield(s).
2. Follow removal steps outlined in the illustration, noting the following steps.





3. Suspend the axle assembly by using a rope





4. Support the crossmember by using a jack.
5. Remove the bolts.
6. Remove the protect bracket.





7. Before loosening the nut, make a mark on the cam plate and the crossmember for reference during installation.





8. Remove the bushing by using the Special Service Tools (SST).

INSTALLATION
1. Follow the removal steps in reverse order as outlined in the illustration for installation, noting the following steps.
2. Apply soapy water to the new bushing.
3. Install the front crossmember bushing.





4. Pull the bushing into the front crossmember by using the SST.
5. Adjust the front wheel alignment.
6. Bleed the air from the power steering system. Service and Repair
