EVAP Monitor Repair Verification Drive Cycle
1. Access and monitor IAT PID. The inlet air temperature must be between 40 to 100°F (4 to 38°C) to start this drive cycle.2. Check the fuel gauge and the FLI PID. The Evaporative Emission, Fuel can only be tested if the fuel gauge reads between 1/4 and 3/4 full or the FLI PID is between 30 and 74% (percentage of tank full).
NOTE: If the fuel tank is greater than 75% filled, a fuel sloshing condition can prevent the Evaporative Emission Monitor from initiating or completing and prevent P1000 from clearing.
3. Perform PCM Reset.
4. Start engine and drive vehicle on the highway for 8 to 15 minutes depending on driving conditions necessary to complete the monitor test.
(1). Drive on the highway for 2 minutes. Access the IAT PID.
- If the IAT PID is above 100°F (38°C) at any time during the 2 minute drive, the monitor will not initiate and the drive cycle must be restarted.
- If the IAT PID is less than 40°F (4°C), at any time during the 2 minute drive, the monitor will not initiate, GO to step b.
- If the IAT PID is between 40 to 100°F (4 to 38°C) at any time during the 2 minute drive, the monitor has reached an intake air condition to initiate. GO to step b.
NOTE: A rapid acceleration or deceleration will cause the test to abort.
(2). Drive the vehicle above 45 mph (72 km/h). Maintain a speed within 5 mph (8 km/h) for 10 minutes while accessing both the IAT PID and the ON BOARD READINESS menu.
- If the IAT PID is still below 40°F (41°C) throughout this drive, the monitor will not initiate or complete. GO to step 0.
- If the IAT PID is between 40 to 100°F (4 to 38°C) during the drive and the monitor is complete, GO to step 5.
- If the monitor is still not complete, GO to step C.
(3). Continue to drive the vehicle at a speed over 45 mph (72 km/h) for an additional 2 to 5 minutes while accessing both the IAT PID and the ON BOARD READINESS menu. If the monitor is still not complete, GO to step 5.
5. Rerun Continuous Memory Self-Test to check P1000 status. If monitor is incomplete, but P1000 has cleared, drive cycle is complete.
