All B-Series built between 1995 and February 1, 2001
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a chatter or binding condition when operating the power side window(s) in the down or up mode. This may be caused by the door glass guide (glass run retainer) that is out-of-adjustment or dirt/debris trapped in the glass guide.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern and identify suspect window.
2. Remove door trim panel according to Workshop Manual Section 09-17 FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL REMOVAL / INSTALLATION.
3. Clean window channel guide with a damp cloth to remove any debris.
If worn, scratched or damaged, replace door glass guide (glass run retainer) according to Workshop Manual Section 09-12 CENTER DOOR GLASS RUN RETAINER REMOVAL / INSTALLATION then proceed to STEP 6.
NOTE:
When installing new door glass guide (glass run retainer), hand tighten top and bottom nuts.
4. Loosen both top and bottom nuts on door glass guide (glass run retainer).
5. Apply a thin coating of service grease (Krytox) to the entire outer surface area of the door glass guide (glass run retainer).
6. Raise window to top position and tighten top nut.
Tightening torque: 10-14 N.m (89-123 lb-in).
7. Lower window to bottom position and tighten bottom nut.
Tightening torque: 10-14 N.m (89-123 lb-in).
8. Cycle glass up and down several times to work the grease into the guides.
9. Verify repair.
NOTE:
If slight chatter/binding is still apparent, re-adjust top nut on window channel guide fore/aft within sheet metal door hole.
