Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. Remove the glove compartment cover.




2. Measure the voltage at the keyless unit terminals.
3. If not as specified inspect the parts listed under "Inspection area" and the related wiring harnesses.

4. If the parts and wiring harnesses are OK but the system still does not work properly, replace the keyless unit.

Terminal B Inspection
^ Inspect in the order of step 1, 2 and 3.

Step 1
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the keyless unit connector.
3. Connect the negative battery cable.
4. Verify that the normal voltage is indicated.

Normal voltage
4.5 - 5.5 V

5. If not as specified, inspect the CPU and the harness between the CPU and the keyless unit.
6. If as specified, inspect for step 2.

Step 2
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Connect the keyless unit connector.
3. Connect the negative battery cable.
4. Measure the voltage by using a voltmeter.




5. Verify that the voltage is as specified for the voltage measured in step 1.
6. If not as specified, replace the keyless unit.
7. If as specified, inspect for step 3.

Step 3
1. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK bottom of the transmitter 10 times in 0.5 seconds intervals, and verify that the voltage is as specified.

Normal voltage
0 - 1 V

2. If not as specified, inspect the keyless antenna and the transmitter.
