Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (TFT) SENSOR INSPECTION [GF4A-EL]
On-Vehicle Inspection
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Connect the SST (104 pin Breakout Box) to the PCM harness with PCM disconnected.
3. Remove the oil dipstick.
4. Adjust the depth of the thermistor probe to measure the same as the dipstick.





5. Insert the thermistor probe into the filler tube.
6. Start the engine.
7. Measure resistance between the terminals 37 and 91 of the SST at each ATF temperature.





- If not as specified, inspect the TFT sensor.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.

Inspection of Individual Parts





1. Remove the TFT sensor.
2. Place the TFT sensor in ATF with a thermometer as shown and heat the ATF gradually. Do not allow the test pieces to touch the bottom.
3. Measure resistance between the terminals of the TFT sensor.
- If not as specified, replace the TFT sensor.





- If it is normal, replace the harness.
4. Install the TFT sensor.
