Key Programming - Program New Key Using One/No Programmed Key

NOTE:
- This procedure is used when a customer needs to have additional keys programmed into the vehicle without erasing stored key codes, but does not have two programmed keys available.
- This procedure is also useful when attempting to determine if an ignition key is defective, as a new key can be installed without erasing keys or without having 2 programmed keys available.
- Before programming, the new key must have the correct mechanical cut for the ignition lock.
- If 8 keys are already programmed, this procedure will not allow any further ignition keys to be programmed without erasing all stored key codes first. The number of keys programmed into the system can be determined by using PATS PID NUMKEYS.
NGS program card version 7.0 or later is required to perform this procedure. If only version 6.0 is available, perform KEY PROGRAMMING-ERASE ALL KEY CODES AND PROGRAM TWO KEYS.

1. Obtain one or more new unprogrammed keys.
2. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to ON using the new key.
3. Using NGS Tester, perform Security Access Procedure. (Refer to KEY PROGRAMMING-SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE.)
4. Select IGNITION KEY CODE PROGRAM.
5. "Programming Spare Keys" message comes up. Wait for 5 seconds for "Key Code Programmed Successfully" message.
6. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
7. Wait for another 5 seconds, then attempt to start vehicle with new ignition key. The vehicle engine should start and run normally.
