Spark Plug: Service and Repair
NOTE: Refer to the chart in Step 4 to determine the condition of the spark plugs.1. Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug.
2. Loosen the spark plug.
CAUTION: If reversing existing spark plugs, mark their location before removal.
WARNING: Always wear eye protection when using compressed air.
NOTE: Use compressed air to remove any debris from the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.
3. Remove the spark plug.
4. Inspect the spark plugs.
NOTE: Platinum-enhanced spark plugs should not require adjustment throughout their service life.
2.5 L / 3.0L , 4.0L:
5. Check and adjust the spark plug gap as necessary.
2.5L/3.0L, 4.0L:
NOTE: All B-Series with 2.5L engine use platinum-enhanced spark plugs for production. Either the ground (side) or center electrode is enhanced with platinum. You can also use spark plugs with the service part number suffix letter "PP" as replacement spark plugs.
NOTE: All B-Series with 3.0L or 4.0L engines have factory-installed, color-coded spark plugs. These spark plugs are not interchangeable between the right and left bank.
