Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Repair Procedure

1. With the vehicle on a hoist, unclip the mirror temperature sensor from its original location on the frame near the right side tie hook.

2. Lower the vehicle and open the hood. Cut the existing tie-wrap near the right side head light to allow the harness to be repositioned.

3. Pull sensor harness up and re-route as shown between body frame and A/C hoses.

4. Raise vehicle on hoist and remove two bolts holding the lower radiator splash shield, and remove three bolts holding the engine splash shield.

5. Route temperature sensor and harness through opening at bottom of radiator to the area near the horn. Carefully pull down on the lower radiator splash shield and clip the temperature sensor to the vertical portion of the shield closest to the horn (piece has foam on it).

6. From under the vehicle, attach a tie-wrap to secure the harness to the small diameter A/C line. Re-install the bolts that hold the two splash shields.

7. From under the hood, attach a tie-wrap to secure the harness to the small diameter A/C line.

NOTE:
^ There is no excess length to wire harness. Route wire as direct as possible to avoid re-installation.

^ Make sure harness is not pinched anywhere or near any moving or rotating parts.

8. Confirm that the temperature is being displayed on the mirror.
