Evaporator Temperature Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection

THERMOSENSOR INSPECTION

To Determine If The Sensor Is Functioning
1. Start the engine.
2. Turn the A/C switch on.
3. Turn the fan switch on.
4. Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) probes of the voltmeter to terminal A and terminal C of the thermosensor respectively. (The wiring harness connector must be connected to the thermosensor connector.)




5. Inspect the voltage as shown.
- If not as specified, inspect on/off points of the thermosensor.

To Inspect On/Off Points Of The Thermosensor
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the thermosensor.
3. Connect the thermosensor connector to the wiring harness connector.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON position.
6. Turn the A/C switch on.
7. Turn the fan switch on.
8. Immerse the sensor part of thermosensor in a container of ice water.
9. Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) probes of the voltmeter to terminal A and terminal C of the thermosensor respectively.




10. Inspect the voltage as shown.
- If not as specified, replace the thermosensor.
