Without A/C

1. Verify the engine is cold.




2. Connect the SSTs (NGS tester) to the DLC-2.
3. Turn ignition key to ON (Engine OFF).
4. Select the PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD function on the NGS display.
5. Select ECT PID.
6. Start the engine and monitor PID.




7. Inspect the cooling fan motor operation under condition of the following.

- If the cooling fan motor operates under ECT below 100 °C {212 °F} condition, inspect the following:
- Short to GND between cooling fan relay No.1 and PCM terminal 45
- Short to GND between cooling fan relay No.2 or No.3 and PCM terminal 17
- Cooling fan relay No.1, No.2 or No.3 is stuck close
- Short to power circuit between cooling fan relay No.1 or No.2 and cooling fan motor

- If the cooling fan motor does not operate at all, inspect the following:
- Cooling fan motor malfunction

- If the cooling fan motor operates at low speed, but does not operate at high speed, inspect the following:
- Open battery power circuit for cooling tan relay No.2 or No.3
- Cooling fan relay No.2 or No.3 is stuck open
- Cooling fan motor malfunction
- Open circuit between cooling fan relay No.2 and cooling fan motor
- Open circuit between cooling fan motor and cooling fan relay No.3
- Cooling fan relay No.3 GND open
- Open circuit between cooling fan relay No.2 or No.3 and PCM terminal 17

- If the cooling fan motor operates at high speed, but does not operate at low speed, inspect the following:
- Cooling fan relay No.1 is stuck open
- Open circuit between cooling fan relay No.1 and cooling fan motor
- Cooling fan motor malfunction
- Cooling fan motor GND open
