WARRANTY EXTENSION

For certain 1999-2000 Protege' vehicles with the 1.6L engine and Non-California Emission Control Warranty, the warranty coverage for the Mass Airflow Sensor is extended. The extended warranty is available for 7 years from the original warranty start date or 70,000 miles, which ever occurs first.

CONDITION OF CONCERN

There is a possibility that a malfunction of the Mass Airflow Sensor may cause a Check Engine/MIL illumination and/or poor driveability. Symptoms may include a lack of power, hesitation, or unstable idle.





SUBJECT VEHICLES

OWNER NOTIFICATION





Owners of affected vehicles will be notified of the warranty extension program and advised they do not need to come in for inspection if their vehicle is functioning normally. Owners will be notified by first class mail in three phases, according to the schedule shown.





REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM





Owners of affected vehicles will receive a reimbursement application form shown.





PARTS INFORMATION

Only defective Mass Airflow Sensors qualify for the warranty extension program.

Parts can be ordered from dealer's facing PDC as needed. They will not be pre-shipped to dealers.

NOTE:
EXISTING OE (NEW) PART NUMBER ZL01-13-215 IS NOT APPLICABLE TO THIS PROGRAM AND CANNOT BE CLAIMED OR REIMBURSED FOR WARRANTY UNDER SSP56.
