Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Using the SST (104 Pin Breakout Box)

1. Check the mass air flow sensor for damage and cracks.
- If there is damage or cracks, replace mass air flow sensor.

2. Disconnect the PCM connector.

3. Connect the SST (104 Pin Breakout Box) to the PCM as shown.
4. Tighten the connector bolt.

Tightening torque: 7.9 - 10.7 N.m {80 - 110 kgf.m, 69.5 - 95.4 in.lbf}

5. Measure the voltage at the PCM terminal 58 as shown in the table.
- If not as specified, perform the MAF sensor circuit open/short inspection.

a. Harness continuity
- Between PCM terminal 58 and mass air flow sensor terminal E
- Between PCM terminal 36 and mass air flow sensor terminal D
- Between PCM terminal 76 and mass air flow sensor terminal C
- Between main relay terminal E and mass air flow sensor terminal B

b. Terminal voltage
- Mass air flow sensor terminal B voltage:
Battery positive voltage
- Mass air flow sensor terminal C voltage:
Below 1.0 V

6. If the terminal voltage is correct and there is harness continuity, replace the mass air flow sensor.
