Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNING: When the engine and exhaust system are hot, they can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing the exhaust system.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.




2. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Front Pipe Removal Note
Remove the transverse member before removing the front pipe.

Exhaust Manifold (RH) Removal Note
Disconnect the EGR pipe before removing the exhaust manifold (RH).




Exhaust Manifold (LH) Removal Note
Remove the front HO2S (LH) using the SST before removing the exhaust manifold (LH).




Exhaust Manifold (LH) Installation Note
Tighten the exhaust manifold installation nuts in the order shown.




Exhaust Manifold (RH) Installation Note
Tighten the exhaust manifold installation nuts in the order shown.
