Ignition Coil Pack: Testing and Inspection

Primary Coil Winding

1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.




2. Measure the resistance between the following terminals using an ohmmeter:
- A and D
- B and D
- C and D
- If not as specified, replace the ignition coil.

Specification
0.45 - 0.55 ohms [20 °C {68 °F}]

Secondary Coil Winding

1. Disconnect the high-tension lead.




2. Measure the resistance between the following lead holes using an ohmmeter:
- 1 and 5
- 2 and 6
- 3 and 4
- If not as specified, replace the ignition coil.

Specification
11.5 - 15.5 kohms [20 °C {68 °F}]

Insulation Case Resistance

1. Disconnect the high-tension lead.
2. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.




3. Measure the insulation resistance from terminal D to ignition coil case using an ohmmeter capable of reading 10 Mohms or over.
- If not as specified, replace the ignition coil.
