Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (TFT) SENSOR INSPECTION
On-Vehicle Inspection
1. Disconnect the coupler component.
2. Remove the oil dipstick.





3. Insert the thermistor probe into the filler tube.
4. Start the engine.

5. Measure resistance between the terminals of the TFT sensor.
^ If not as specified, inspect the TFT sensor.
6. Connect the coupler component.

Inspection of Individual Parts





1. Remove the TFT sensor.
2. Place the TFT sensor in ATF with a thermometer as shown and heat the ATF gradually. Do not allow the test pieces to touch the bottom.

3. Measure resistance between the terminals of the TFT sensor.
^ If not as specified, replace the TFT sensor.
^ If it is normal, replace the harness.
4. Install the TFT sensor.
