Inspection and Verification

Visual Inspection Chart:

1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of electrical damage. Refer to the given chart.

2. If the concern remains after inspection, connect the NGS Tester to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the NGS Tester menu. If the NGS Tester does not communicate with the vehicle:
1. check that the program card is correctly installed.
2. check the connections to the vehicle.
3. check that the ignition switch is in the RUN position.

3. If the NGS Tester still does not communicate with the vehicle, see PINPOINT TEST 1: NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM).

NOTE: Do not contact the As-Built Data Center unless the NGS Tester instructs you to do so. The NGS Tester will not allow you to use as-built data information unless the NGS Tester first prompts you for the As-Built Data Center information.
