Compressor Fitting HVAC: Service and Repair
MANIFOLD AND TUBE ASSEMBLY REMOVAL/INSTALLATIONNOTE: Replacement of the suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
1. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly from the receiver/drier. Refer to the Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect and Connect general procedure in See SPRING LOCK COUPLING.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
2. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly from the condenser core.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
3. Disconnect the A/C pressure cut-off switch connector.
4. Disconnect the fuel line spring lock coupling; see SPRING LOCK COUPLINGS.
5. Remove the nut and reposition the bracket.
6. Loosen the bolt and remove the compressor manifold and tube assembly.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- If a new compressor manifold and tube assembly is to be installed, transfer the pressure cutoff switch to the new compressor manifold and tube assembly.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean refrigerant oil. See REFRIGERANT OIL ADDITION.
8. Evacuate, leak test, and charge the refrigerant system. See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM TESTS.
